Getting things done: With Doit.im
I like to work with to do lists. Not those on paper but digital ones. Unfortunately, I haven't found the perfect solution yet. It seems consensus that Remember The Milk is the leading/best web app for task management online. But if you want to use the mobile apps they ask you to pay $ 25 dollar per year. I am willing to pay for a lot of online services - but honestly, not for task management, which just seems a little bit too "simple". At least I want it simple, not complex.
At the moment, I am using Zenbe Lists. I actually bought the iPhone app for about 20 Swedish crowns (approx 2 Euro) to be able to sync it with the web version. It works, but it is not the optimum, since I have to visit Zenbe every time I want to update a task on my computer... 5 wasted seconds of my life. Through FriendFeed, I today discovered Doit.im, a free and very promising looking task management tool. It's an AIR based desktop app that will work on every system and can stay in the background while you are working - that's exactly what I want. I installed it and was shown a very slick, clean and minimalistic interface, supporting shortcuts, drag n drop and tags for better and faster handling of tasks. Mobile apps for iPhone and Android are in the works and I hope they'll be available soon. I will give Doit.im - which apparently is based in China - a longer testing phase, but what I have seen so far looks like tailor-made.
